The New York State DanceForce first came together in the mid-1990s as a think tank to examine the problems facing dance and the opportunities afforded it: issues of audience development, community development, dance literacy, and access to artistic and financial resources. We are a network of committed activists—presenters, administrators, choreographers, and dancers—working every day to connect our art to our communities throughout the state.
Each member of the DanceForce receives annual support allocated towards one or more projects. Over the past 22 years, we have funded over 300 initiatives. And twice a year we come together to share information and ideas.
The New York State DanceForce is administered by the American Dance Asylum, Inc., a 501c3 not-for-profit corporation based in Corning, NY.
Funding provided by the New York State Council of the Arts.
